Averill Erdody joined the Bowdoin field hockey coaching staff in the summer of 2024. A native of Milford, N.H., Erdody returns to New England following a three-year stint at Rhodes (Tenn.) College, including a season as head coach in the fall of 2023. A veteran goaltending coach with a wealth of collegiate experience, Erdody led Rhodes to a 14-4 campaign in her season at the helm in 2023. She served as assistant coach at Rhodes the prior two seasons, when the Lynx posted a 23-9 combined mark. Prior to Rhodes, Erdody coached the Summit Field Hockey club (N.H.) and as an assistant coach at Southern New Hampshire (2018-19) and Wilkes (Pa.) University (2017-18). A goaltender in her collegiate playing days, Erdody played Division I field hockey for the University of Albany before transferring to UMass Lowell where she earned a B.A. in Communications. She also owns a M.S. in Education from Southwestern (Texas) University.
